Oby Ezekwesili gives up presidential race, states reasons
The Presidential candidate under the auspices of the Allied Congress Party Of Nigeria (ACPN), Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili has abdicated her interest to run the presidential race in the forthcoming elections, DailyleakBlog can confirm.
Taking to her Twitter page early Thursday morning, which is the 24th of January, the former minister revealed she’s relinquishing her interest in the presidential elections that is scheduled for February 16th, to establish a coalition with other smaller parties, a coalition that will defeat the All Progressive’s Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) .
According to Oby, her decision to halt her campaign to form an alliance that will defeat these parties, is in view of the reactions of Nigerians to the 2019 presidential debate which was held on Saturday, 19th January, 2019.
After the presidential debate, Nigerians home and abroad suggested that presidential candidates, Obiageli Ezekwesili (ACPN), Kingsley Moghalu(YPP), Fela Duroteye (ANN), Omoyele Sowore(AAC) form an alliance that would be a great force to defeat Nigeria’s big weights APC and PDP .
Thus Oby Ezekwesili’s daring move to renounce her interest in the presidential elections and raising her voice for a coalition.
The erstwhile presidential candidate whose supporters had made donations in respect of her bid took to twitter and wrote,
“Following the reactions of Nigerian citizens at home and abroad to the 2019 presidential debate held on Saturday 19 January and after extensive consultations with leader from various walks of life across the country over the pat few days, i have decided to step down from the presidential race and focus on helping to build a coalition for a viable alternative to the APCPDP in the 2019 general elections.
” This coalition for a viable alternative has now more than ever before become an urgent mission for and unbehalf of the citizenry” she continued
” Over the past three months i have been in private extended talks with other candidates to make a coalition possible that would allow Nigerians to exercise choice without feeling helplessly saddled with the APCPDP …
